Win-Win Therapy

Couples Communication Therapy

For couples who love each other but struggle to understand each other. Build the skills to listen, express, and resolve conflict together.

What We Work On

  • Active listening techniques
  • Emotional expression skills
  • Conflict de-escalation
  • Understanding different communication styles
  • Breaking criticism-defensiveness cycles
  • Creating space for both partners to be heard

Sessions follow our standard 2-hour format, giving you time to practice new skills with guidance in Riga or online.

Who this work is for

Couples communication therapy is for partners who still care about each other and keep missing each other in conversation. You may leave talks feeling unheard, shut down, or circling the same argument. That pattern shows up in mixed-nationality couples, long marriages, and newer relationships alike.

Eva Ratfeldere (psychotherapist) and Peter Clark (relationship coach) work in English, in person at Čaka iela 83/85 in Riga or by video. Sessions are 2 hours so both of you can speak, listen, and try a different response before you leave the room.

How this differs from marriage counseling

If the main problem is how you talk when it matters, start here. If you are also dealing with betrayal, a decision about staying together, or a wider marital crisis, see marriage counseling. Many couples use both over time. Cross-cultural pairs who get stuck on tone, directness, or family language can also use cross-cultural therapy.

What a session looks like

We slow the conversation down. One partner speaks, the other practises reflecting what they heard before answering. We name the cycle (criticism, withdrawal, mind-reading) while it is happening, then rehearse a cleaner version. You leave with one or two concrete habits to try at home, not a stack of worksheets.
